Rising artiste Lensoman says his passion for music has driven him in many ways over the course of his life; he hopes to put a smile on everyone’s face through his soul rhythm and blues music.
Born on 14 October 1995, Lennon Tinashe Mapurisa, aka Lensoman or Champion says he began his musical career at a tender age when he was still in grade five, playing mbira and marimba drums at school.
His dream and ambition was further driven when he joined the cultural and theatre arts dance group Chipawo Media where he grew more interested in song and dance.
“I grew up in a family where almost everyone could sing, play mbira and other musical instruments. This drove me towards my love for music. Since then I have been on musical journey which I hope to achieve the best out of myself as an artiste.” Said Mapurisa.
Lennon , aka, Lensoman says as time went by his strength for music also grew with him. This saw him recording his first ever professional song called ‘Lindiwe’ in 2010.
“I am a versatile artiste. I have an appreciation of all kinds of music, however my specialty is rested in singing about love. That’s because love is the greatest gift God gave us all,” he said.
Mapurisa says his musical journey has not been easy. He struggled with unavailability of quality studios to record in, financial constraints, limited access to radio stations amongst other factors. He however said despite these challenges, his music has been accepted by his audience. The rising musician hopes to continue to produce more good tracks for his listeners.
“ I don’t want to sound like am boasting but my music has been well accepted by my fans who say that the music is great and well composed, my fans are the judges and the verdict is quite pleasing,” said Mapurisa.
“To date, I have produced two albums, and twenty more singles.” The music has had so much impact amongst lovers and the ladies fan base.
Asked on where he hopes to take his music, Lensoman said he hopes to continue producing good music, go on a tour one day and, make local and international collaborations.
“I hope to become big superstar in my musical journey. One day… I hope to have collaboration with Jah Prayzah because he is one of my inspirations in music. I also want to encourage other rising musicians to keep on pushing content, one day it will pay out”, said Mapurisa
